Yamane personality type is INTP, and he doesn't seem to fit the standard definition of an introvert. He's a lot more extroverted than Myers-Briggs would have him be. I don't know if that's a problem or not, but I just mention it, since his personality type is so different from what most people would guess.

Yamane is one of the most reliably consistent characters in the series. He's as consistent with his relationships as he is with his feelings, and while he doesn't always do exactly what you expect him to do, he rarely does anything without a reason. He's not afraid to stand up to authority when it's necessary, but he never oversteps the bounds. He doesn't speak with his fists in most cases, unless he's drunk, which causes him to be rather crude at times. When he first meets Mamiya, he gets into a verbal brawl with her, and they get into a physical brawl (literally) when they try to escape from her prison. In the end, though, he still helps her escape from the prison.
