Joaquim Câmara Ferreira (São Paulo, September 5, 1913 - São Paulo, October 23, 1970), also known as "Comandante Toledo" or "The Old Man", was a militant and Brazilian communist leader, member of the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) and Commander of Ação Libertadora Nacional (ALN); worked in the 'armed struggle' against the Brazilian military dictatorship, installed in the country in 1964. He was responsible for having created the 'Intelligence Service', a strategic arm of the terrorist organization ALN. During the military regime, he became best known for being one of the commanders of the kidnapping and private imprisonment of the American ambassador to Brazil, Charles Burke Elbrick, in September 1969. He was tortured and killed on October 20, 1970, by the team of Detachment of Information Operations - Internal Defense Operations Center (DOI-CODI), headed by Sérgio Paranhos Fleury.
