Saleh, or Methusaleh, is not a biblical character, but a real person. He is the son of Abraham, and the grandson of Noah. Although he was the grandson of Noah, he still was one of the few sons to survive the deluge. Saleh is also known by his epithet “Methuselah” meaning “Son of the Mountain” because he was born to a father who lived on a mountain.
When Methuselah was born, his mother, Sarah (wife of Abraham), was already old and barren. But Abraham was still interested in having children. So he sent his servant, Hagar (Hagar means “flight of God”) with her son Ishmael to find a wife for him. Hagar found an Egyptian woman named Keturah and gave birth to a son named Nebaioth.
