Jahannam
Jahannam is an Arabic word that means “Hell”. The concept of Hell in Islam is based on the Biblical concept of Gehenna or Sheol. Gehenna was the place where the dead were thrown by the LORD until the day of resurrection, while Jahannam is the place where the wicked will be thrown after they are tortured for all eternity.
The word “Jahannam” is rarely used in Quran, and the only time it is used in Quran is when Allah says:
“And We shall leave them in it for a specified time, so that they may increase in sin and fail to do Right” (Quran 39:61)
The people who are thrown into Jahannam are sinners who did not do good deeds. They do not believe in Allah or His messenger. The Prophet Muhammad (p) said that Jahannam is the worst place that a person will be thrown into after he dies; in other words, there is no way out of it.
Dhu al-Qarnayn, (Arabic: ذُو ٱلْقَرْنَيْن Ḏū al-Qarnayn, Lit.: "He of the Two Horns"), also spelled Zu al-Qarnayn, appears in the Quran, Surah Al-Kahf (18), Ayahs 83-101 as one who travels to east and west and erects a wall between mankind and Gog and Magog (called Ya'juj and Ma'juj).[1]
