Melu says that she’s not trying to destroy anything. She says she’s just trying to put certain things into perspective. For instance, she’s thinking about the American dream. You know, the idea that you can work hard and make something of yourself. “I do not want to take away from anyone’s dream,” she says. “But sometimes it’s like you have to keep looking up that ladder.”
Melu has a boyfriend, but she doesn’t see him often. “I just wanted him to know about my situation,” she says. “I feel like I didn’t want it to be a secret. I just wanted him to know what I had to deal with all the time.”
Melu is also very close to her family. “I wanted to show them,” she says. “I’m so grateful for them.”
