Seligman personality type is INTP, and Schachter’s is INTJ. Next, I’ll introduce the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which is not to be confused with the Enneagram – although it is very similar – and measures the four main cognitive functions: 1) extraverted intuition (E), 2) introverted feeling (F), 3) extraverted sensing (S), and 4) introverted thinking (T).
I’d like to call your attention to the fact that four cognitive functions reflect the four elements of the Enneagram:
E – earth, or physical
T – air, or mental
F – fire, or emotional
S – water, or spiritual
The MBTI is a test used to measure how you score on each of the four cognitive functions. There are four types: 1) sensing / intuitive (S / N), 2) thinking / judging (T / J), 3) feeling / feeling (F / F), and 4) perceiving / perceiving (P / P). Each person has a preference for one of the functions, and usually one function is more dominant than the others.
