Baofu/ Kaoru Saga personality type is INTP, which is rare enough in its own right. The only other anime character that I can think of with this personality type is Aoba Suzukaze, who is also an INTP, but her type is ISFJ, which is one step away from INTP. I think Kaoru's personality type is more like ISFJ than it is like INTP, so she's basically an INTP-ish character.
Kaoru is the only girl in the series, so of course she's not going to have many male friends. However, she does have one male friend, Yagami Taichi. Taichi is the sort of person who can be trusted to keep a secret. He's probably best described as a smart, sensitive guy who gets scared easily. Kaoru is very open with him about her feelings, which are very obvious right from the start.
Kaoru's two best friends are Hikari and Aki. Hikari is the smartest girl in class, while Aki is the one who is most popular with the boys. Hikari is a very strong, mature girl.
