The protagonist of the series, Yuuji Kazami (Kasuka) is a young man who has moved from Tokyo to a new town, Heiwajima, a fishing village in a mountainous region of Japan, apparently to live with his mother’s relatives. The fact that he has moved there with no explanation makes him stand out from the rest of the townspeople. As it turns out, his father, who is from the same town, was killed in a traffic accident shortly after he left.
