Ol' Blue personality type is INTP, so it's not really "blue" at all. It's not a personality type; it's a description. So I don't want to use the word "blue" to describe an INTP.
INTPs are the blue-collar workers of the personality world. They're the ones that do the dirty jobs and the hard work of the world, but they're often underappreciated and underpaid for their time and effort. They have a tendency to go off on their own, and sometimes they're not appreciated for their efforts, either.
I call my own INTP friends "Old Blue," because that's what we get for working for peanuts and doing our own thing. We're often left out of social events and have a bit of a reputation for being aloof or awkward. It's annoying that we're in this way, because we're not always like that. But it's our personality type, so we can't help it.
Like I said, I think of old blue as a description; it's not anything that I should try to define or set a standard for. But it's my personal take on the more blue-collar side of the INTP personality type.
