Professor Wiseman personality type is INTP, but he has taken many roles in life.
He started his career in the Royal Air Force, where he was trained in electronics and radio communications. He joined the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in 1979, where he worked on the Strategic Defence Review. He later went to the Cabinet Office where he became head of the Defence Policy Staff.
His expertise in defence policy led to his appointment to the Cabinet Office where he was the Head of the Defence Policy Staff (DPS). He then became the Head of Defence Policy (HDP) in 1998, until he left the Cabinet Office in 2004.
From 2004 to 2009, he was the Director-General in the MOD, leading the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, before becoming the Chief Scientific Adviser in 2009. It is important to note that he returned to the MOD in 2011, when he was appointed as the Permanent Secretary.
Professor Wiseman has written a number of books on science and psychology, including ‘Thinking Fast and Slow’. He has also written books for children on ‘Science in the Real World’ and ‘Nano’. He has published about 150 scientific papers.
