Vogon personality type is ESTJ, or the “Earth-Stonewall.” ESTJs are the “Stonewalls” of the personality spectrum, the ones who can let nothing or no one get in their way. They are the steely-eyed, dogged, self-disciplined, duty-driven, inflexible, one-track-minded, no-nonsense characters of fiction and film. They are true to their word. They have a reputation for being manipulative, coercive, and controlling.
Vogons, though, are a lot less rigid and inflexible than you might expect. In fact, they are quite light-hearted, cynical, and ironic; they are the last ones to take themselves seriously. They don’t take themselves seriously. They take everything else seriously; but not themselves.
But they do take things seriously. And they don’t give in to compromise easily. For example, the Vogons have made it their mission to destroy all of the useless waste products of human civilization by using the most efficient means possible. Any item that cannot be recycled or reused is consigned to a huge incinerator built into the side of a mountain.
