Pyke: Gameplay Style personality type is INTP, and that’s always been a very important aspect of mine. I also have a bit of a competitive streak, so I thought, “Why don’t we make a team that’s both those things?” In the world of League, there have been a lot of great champions. I thought, “If we try to make a champion that’s really different from those champions, can we do something that no other champion has done before?”
Riot: How did the concept of a healer come about?
Pyke: I have a background in engineering and have been working on a lot of R&D projects at Relic, so I have a lot of experience with healing. I wanted to create something that would be very unique and not like anything else in the game. I knew that the game is very top-down with the vision of what it’s design is supposed to be. What Pyke is doing is really breaking the mold of what all healers are like. He’s using his intellect and creativity to run around and heal people with his abilities instead of just using his mana for heals.
