It's about a man who is writing a play about a man who is obsessed with his own hair, and who is driven to kill anyone who gets too close. He also keeps having thoughts about hair. Then one night his mother is in bed with him in his sleep, and she starts chopping off his head.
And then there's the short story "The Crawlers" by Richard Matheson. It's about a boy who visits an old friend in the hospital, and when they're alone he tells him about his nightmares.
Argus Panoptes or Argos is a many-eyed giant in Greek mythology.
