Berenson described her son as very physically active – he enjoys playing soccer – but he’s “not a hyper kid. He likes to sit and watch TV. He likes to be a bit of a nerd,” she said.
Berenson said the family’s life is very different from what it was ten years ago.
“In some ways it’s been a blessing,” Berenson said of the autism diagnosis. “We had no idea what to expect. But I am an optimist by nature, and I think that made all the difference. Because we have gone through so many ups and downs, we have developed this amazing resilience that we have that allows us to keep going forward. It makes me feel very lucky.”
