Budgerigar personality type is ESFP, but they are often mistaken for INTP.

Budgerigars are very social creatures. They will greet their owners in the morning before their owner has even gotten out of bed, and will follow their owner around all day, making sure they are safe. They will also protect their owners in the same fashion, but in a more aggressive way, squawking at other birds in defense of their owners. Their owners will not have to worry about getting hurt in the middle of the night because of a Budgerigar!

Budgerigars are also one of the few birds that are actually much smarter than their owners give them credit for. They are very curious birds, much like cats, and therefore will investigate everything they find. They will examine every object that they find, and then attempt to figure out how to use it. A Budgerigar will figure out how to use a coffee cup if it is left out, and will figure out how to use a toilet if it is left uncovered.

These birds also have a very unique way of communicating with their owners. They will use a soft chirp as a greeting or to tell their owner they want something.

The budgerigar, also known as the common parakeet or shell parakeet, is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot usually nicknamed the budgie, or in American English, the parakeet. Budgies are the only species in the genus Melopsittacus. Naturally, the species is green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on the nape, back, and wings. Budgies are bred in captivity with colouring of blues, whites, yellows, greys, and even with small crests. Juveniles and chicks are monomorphic, while adults are told apart by their cere colouring, and their behaviour. The origin of the budgerigar's name is unclear. First recorded in 1805, budgerigars are popular pets around the world due to their small size, low cost, and ability to mimic human speech. They are likely the third most popular pet in the world, after the domesticated dog and cat. Budgies are nomadic flock parakeets that have been bred in captivity since the 19th century.
