Rock In Opposition (RIO) personality type is INTP, and I have a hard time understanding the point of the whole thing. The introverts have a hard time being understood, and the extroverts have a hard time being understood by introverts. It's a very strange phenomenon. The show has been around for a long time, and I've been watching it for almost 20 years. The people involved in the show have been around for much longer, but they've been in bands before, so they know how to be in a band. I'm a Ph.D. student in this area, and I've been studying the RIO types since 2002.
The show is still going strong, but I notice that the dynamics have changed over the years. In the early years, the audience was composed of a relatively small group of people who were very well-educated and very knowledgeable about politics and social issues. The show was also very funny, even though it was scripted. But I noticed something strange happened when they added a new member to the band in the mid-1980s. It was difficult to watch because the band members started to become more and more political, and sometimes they got into fights that would have been totally unwatchable if they were scripted.
Rock in Opposition or RIO was a movement representing a collective of progressive bands in the late 1970s united in their opposition to the music industry that refused to recognise their music. It was initiated by English avant-rock group Henry Cow in March 1978 when they invited four mainland European groups to come to London and perform in a festival called "Rock in Opposition".
