I once had a patient come in and tell me some story about her mother. Her mother was in her late 50s and was having a difficult time with her step-son. For example, he was a bit of a jerk to her daughter, and he didn't give her much respect either.
She was telling me how her daughter wanted nothing to do with the step-son and she was very glad.
