In 1987, Sawashiro made her big screen debut in the drama "Fuka" (1987), which earned her a Japanese Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination.
In 1990, Sawashiro starred in the Japanese television drama "Karei na, Ana Ana no Jikan" (1990).
