When we were first married, we moved to a small town in Pennsylvania, we were already planning to have children, and we knew that we would be raising them in small town mentality and culture. We didn’t want to be stuck in that small town mentality, and we knew we couldn’t live there forever.
I started getting involved in local politics and community organizations. We both decided that we would stay in the area and raise our children there. Megan took over the board of the elementary school PTA. I became involved with the chamber of commerce and community events.
I knew that we could live there and raise our kids there if we wanted to, but we didn’t want to live there because we had to. We wanted our kids to feel like they were living in a small town, and we didn’t want them to think that we were stuck in a small town mentality.
I got involved with the county board of commissioners and Megan got involved with the local school board.
