As far as why I don't really care that much, I guess it just comes down to the fact that I am too stubborn to let my emotions get in the way of what I think is best for me. That, and if I give in to my emotions, I'd probably just do what my parents wanted me to do anyway.
I mean, how could I not? They always said I was the "good one", the "smart one", and so on. And I'm sure most of them meant it in a good way, but I just don't think it's fair to let my parents (or anyone else) dictate my life for me. It's not like they're my mom and dad or anything. They're just some people who happen to have children who they believe are good people. They don't know me. They can't possibly know what's best for me.
And if my mom is right (which I'm sure she is), then I should do what she tells me to do, because she knows what's best for me. So there's no reason for me to question her authority.
