Extroverted INTPs love the energy of a crowd, but introverted INTPs need alone time to recharge. The introverted side of the personality bridges the gap between the extroverted and introverted sides, and can give the extroverted side a perspective it otherwise lacks.
INTPs are brilliant innovators, but they tend to get lost in their own world of ideas. They don't have a strong social filter, so they can easily get overwhelmed by the barrage of information from the world around them. They may seem a bit standoffish at first, but if you get to know them, they're very warm and outgoing. INTPs tend to be highly creative, logical thinkers, but they can be very stubborn about their beliefs and will often stand by them until there is no other choice. This can make them highly critical of other people's ideas and beliefs.

That is, they may be interested in either describing that people do act in self-interest or prescribing that they should. Other definitions of egoism may instead emphasise action according to one's will rather than one's self-interest, and furthermore posit that this is a truer sense of egoism. The New Catholic Encyclopedia states of egoism that it "incorporates in itself certain basic truths: it is natural for man to love himself; he should moreover do so, since each one is ultimately responsible for himself; pleasure, the development of one's potentialities, and the acquisition of power are normally desirable."
