Darryl explains that as a child he was a tad bit awkward. “I was never good at the social part of school,” he says. “I was a fairly quiet child, and never really sought attention from my peers.” However, once he started playing with his older brother’s toys, the world opened up for Darryl.
“I was five years old when my brother gave me a toy truck that had a gun that you could fire,” he says with a laugh. “I knew something was awry because it didn’t work, but I was hooked.”
Darryl played with the toy for hours on end with his brother, who helped him build up his skills. “I was good at it, but not great,” he says.
