Hugh Akston personality type is INTP, not INTJ) that it is not surprising to find that he was an INTP. (I do not know of any of his writings that specifically address the subject of type.)
However, my interpretation of his writings on the subject of intuition is that he believed it to be a function, and not a separate and ultimate component of his personality type, unlike many of his contemporaries who did believe in the existence of intuition as a separate and ultimate component of the type.
The following quotation from one of his books is typical of his thinking on the subject:
Intuition is a quality which is dependent upon a person's personality type. In the following table we have listed as far as we know the eight types and their four different ways of handling perception. The Intuitive function is listed in italics. The other functions are listed in normal type order, so we can see how an Intuitive perceives each function. INTUITIVE:
