Yoshitomo Nara personality type is INFP, but he carries the "shy" and "loves to read" traits into that important career choice. Nara was not an obvious choice for the Japanese equivalent of the Apollo mission. He was a shy, private and slow-moving person, and his career choice was not one that would normally be made by an INFP.
But Nara was enormously talented and brilliant, and he excelled in his chosen field. He became the first Japanese astronaut, and he flew to the Moon on board the United States' Lunar Module (LM) "Falcon".
Nara's only real competitor for this honour was another INFP, Masayoshi (Masa) Hirano. Masa was born in Japan, but his father was a Canadian citizen, and he moved to Canada with his family at an early age. His father's work took the family to the United States, and Masa attended high school and college in Louisiana. He eventually returned to Japan and became a professor of international relations at Waseda University.
Masa had always wanted to be an astronaut, but he lacked both the physique and the background that Nara had.
Yoshitomo Nara (奈良 美智, Nara Yoshitomo, born 5 December 1959 in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese artist. He lives and works in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture, though his artwork has been exhibited worldwide. Nara has had nearly 40 solo exhibitions since 1984. His art work has been housed at the MoMA and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA). His most well-known and repeated subject is a young girl with piercing eyes.
