The Myers Briggs personality type theory was developed by a psychologist named Isabel Briggs Myers. She was born in a world war. Her mother had died from cancer when she was six years old, and her father died just a few years later from tuberculosis. She went to live with relatives for a while, and then she went back to her parents’ house to live with her mother’s sister.
Isabel Myers worked with Carl Jung in the 1920s. He developed the Myers Briggs personality type theory. Then she developed her own version of it, which she called the Briggs-Myers Theory. Then in the 1950s, she turned over the copyright to this theory to the American Psychological Association.
