    The Mystery Of Erebus

Erebus was the Greek god of darkness and the underworld. He was a god of the dead, the unknown, and the unseen. He was also considered to be a god of wealth, wisdom, and knowledge. He was often referred to as the Dark God because he was associated with the underworld.

In ancient Greek religion and Greek mythology, Erebus was the personification of darkness.

Erê lies at the exact point between the person's consciousness and the orisha's unconsciousness. It is through the Erê that the Orixá expresses his will, that the novice learns the fundamental things of Candomblé, such as the dances and specific rites of his Orixá. The word erê comes from the Yoruba, erê, which means "to play". Hence the expression siré which means "to play games". The word iré in Yoruba means "good deed or favor". Ere (not to be confused with a child who in Yoruba is omodé) appears instantly after the trance of the orixá, that is, Erê is the intermediary between the initiate and the orixá. During the initiation ritual, Erê is of paramount importance as it is Erê who will often bring the various messages from the newly initiated orixá. Erê is sometimes confused with ibeji, which is actually the unconsciousness of the new omon-orixá, since Erê is responsible for a lot of things and rites passed during the period of seclusion.
