Darko personality type is ENTJ, not ENTJ. And Roddenberry's character was very much a straight "ENTP" type, unlike the "straight-faced" type that Roddenberry himself was.
Roddenberry was an "INTJ" type. He was also an "INTP" type, in the sense that he was very much an inventor and had a "disregard for rules" personality. There are very few ENTJ types who have become great inventors -- it's ENTJ's who have become great leaders of large organizations, not inventors.
Roddenberry was a very great leader and visionary and was a visionary in many ways. However, he didn't have the "enthusiasm" of the ENTJ type. He was very much an "inventor" and a "builder of systems" type, and wasn't passionate about anything except his work. This is why he was able to keep the series going for so long, but he was also why the show ultimately became stagnant and uninteresting.
ENTP's are excellent leaders, as you know. They are very innovative, and ENTJ's are great systems builders.
