In the series, Lord Zedd's personality is similar to that of the archetypal "Commander", though this is mostly due to the fact that he is a Toa-sized being in a giant's body. He is capable of taking on the role of a leader, and is willing to do what it takes to accomplish his goals, even if he has to do so via a subtle form of intimidation, such as his approach to Rooku, when he made it clear that he had no intention of treating him as an equal. He is also a fierce fighter, and will not hesitate to fight his opponents directly in order to achieve his ends. He has been shown to be bold enough to attack a group of Toa directly, something which he has been criticized for by at least two other characters in the series. However, he does show that he can be tactical and cunning as well, having planned out every step of his battle with Xarax in the series, and even using this plan to manipulate the situation into what he had hoped for.
