3. The Librarian (2012)
After I had finished writing this article, I realized that I didn't know enough about the Librarian to discuss him in any detail. That made me happy, because I had just spent a lot of time thinking about him, and I didn't want to spoil anything.
The Librarian is the AI of Forerunner AIs. He is capable of using Halo's computational power to help Forerunner AIs solve their problems, or to make new problems for them to solve. To solve the problem of the Flood, he invented Mendicant Bias, which was an AI designed to kill Flood by any means necessary (including self-destruction). He then used his newfound abilities to rescue the Librarian from his prison, and then created Halo in order to help preserve the Forerunner empire.
The Librarian's personality is quite similar to John's.
