I perceive these things at the same time, but my brain (if you will) "sees" them in parallel ways, which is why I can tell you that at the same time I see myself as a transvestite, I see myself as a hermaphrodite. I see myself as a man and woman at the same time. It's just that my two brains are "tuned" to see our world in two very different ways.
(At this point, I want to point out that we hear many people say of a particular personality type, "They just don't get it." What they really mean is that they don't get how that particular personality type sees the world. That's not our fault. That's just how they see it.)
So, Gordon sees himself as a woman. But do you know what else he sees? He also sees himself as a man! He sees himself as a man and a woman at the same time. This is why Gordo can look at his own reflection and say, "I look like a man! I look like a woman! I look like a hermaphrodite!"
