At the start of the series, he was the only member of the Greenbriar family not to have married. He was frequently annoyed by his brother's ideas, especially after he began dating his best friend Miki Tachibana. However, he eventually fell in love with her himself. He is initially very competitive, but he is willing to listen to others' suggestions. His relationship with his family is initially strained, as they were worried that he would end up like his brother (and was also worried that he would end up like his brother). However, their relationship is improved over the course of the series.
His mother often tries to tell him how to behave at times, but he doesn't listen. He is also very protective of his younger sister, Ran. He also has two cousins (Kazuya and Ryo) who live with him. He loves eating takoyaki (octopus-shaped fried snack with takoyaki sauce inside) with Miki, and is often seen with one in his hands.
Balekin Greenbriar, also known as Prince Balekin, was a faerie and a prince of Elfhame. He was the son of his unnamed mother and firstborn child of Eldred Greenbriar, great-grandson of Mab Greenbriar, brother to Elowyn, Dain, Rhyia, Caelia and Cardan Greenbriar, uncle to Oak and brother-in-law to Jude Greenbriar née Duarte. Prince Balekin led what was known as the Circle of Grackles.
