András Schiff was born in Budapest, Hungary, on August 7, 1948. His father was an engineer who worked for the Hungarian State Railways. He grew up in Pest, but his family moved to a small town in the countryside after he finished high school.
Schiff's family were close-knit and supportive, and he credits them with teaching him the work ethic that has led him to such great success.
After school, he studied mathematics at the University of Debrecen.
After completing his studies, he began working as a research assistant, but soon discovered a passion for programming.
Schiff joined Budapest's Central European Institute of Technology (CEIT), where he met his future wife, Eva Balogh. He completed his studies at CEIT and started work as a programmer in July 1974.
The following year, he founded his first company, office automation systems developer A.S.I.S.S., which later became known as Magma.
András Schiff (born in Budapest; December 21, 1953) is a Hungarian pianist, well known for his interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach and Robert Schumann. He has also recorded all of Mozart's piano concertos and the complete cycle of Beethoven's Sonatas.
