Myers-Briggs vs. Emotional Intelligence
A 2012 paper by Huey-Yang Khim, Alexander L. Lee, and Eric Ni (2012) found that EI (“emotional intelligence”) was more predictive of job performance than MBTI (“Myers-Briggs Type Indicator”).
To put it another way, for every one point increase in MBTI, there is a 0.46 increase in the odds of obtaining the highest level of job performance (level 5, or “superior”).
The study also found that EI was more predictive of job performance than the EI subscales of the MBTI. The researchers suggested that EI “may be more important than MBTI in predicting job performance.”
