Focus on the Family Personality Type, MBTI

Focus on the Family personality type is ESFJ, which is a little shy and lacks comfort in expressing emotions. They are quick to judge people and they have a hard time opening up about their own feelings, so they prefer to keep their distance from people. ESFJs dislike conflict, but will not back down from one, and will do so with a short fuse. They prefer to work through things instead of going to a lawyer or lawyer-like counselor, and they’ll try to do so with their own personal resources, which may include a close friend. ESFJs are willing to trust a counselor who understands them and who is not judgmental, who will not push their buttons or make them feel as though they are being interrogated. ESFJs do not like conflict, but they can be very convincing about their point of view if they believe they are right. If the counselor is not convinced, they might do nothing and give up on the client. Counselors must understand the ESFJ personality type and be able to work with it. They can’t let themselves become overwhelmed by ESFJs’ emotions and they must be able to turn the heat down for a while if things get too emotional.
