The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is an American white supremacist, far-right racist organization known for promoting racism, xenophobia, and anti-Semitism, as well as homophobia, anti-Catholicism, and anti-communism through violence and propaganda. Created in the 19th century, immediately after the Civil War, it groups together several organizations structured as a secret society, which have frequently resorted to terrorism, violence and intimidation - the most famous perhaps being the burning of crosses - to impose their criteria and oppress their victims.
