Yellow Magic Orchestra personality type is INTP, an intellectual and ideas-focused personality. "I never thought that I'd be a musician, even though I was interested in music as a child," he says. "But I just had this feeling that I wanted to be a part of it, so I went to my first band and learned how to play an instrument and started working on my own songs. It's sort of a natural progression."
Aboard the Kishu, he's not sure how much he'll play his own material — he thinks the Internet has killed the live show, and there's no tour (he's not sure if he can trust the Internet, either). But he'll happily play requests. "I'd love to play 'We're All Water,'" he says, referring to his most recent single. "I tend to write songs that are open-ended and don't really have a chorus. But I'm thinking (about) how to make it more accessible."
He's also thinking about making a new album — and, if he's lucky, opening up the Kishu for a few days this summer.
