As an INTP, I personally feel that I could understand Burroughs’s writing style better than I understand the writing style of Anaïs Nin. INTP personalities are known for their ability to relate to abstract ideas, and they are also known for their dry humor. Burroughs was using his peculiar writing style to make a statement about the nature of humanity. He was doing so by creating his own unique literary style.
Through this style he was able to explore the creative potentials of the human mind. The writing style of Burroughs is very much like that of Anaïs Nin, in that it is very different than what the average person might expect from a writer. If you were to read both of these authors’ works, you would notice how they are very different. The writing styles of these two authors are very different yet they are so similar because both authors were using their own unique creative styles to express their personal feelings.
William Seward Burroughs II was an American writer and visual artist, credited as a primary figure of the Beat Generation and a major postmodern author who influenced popular culture and literature. Burroughs wrote eighteen novels and novellas, six collections of short stories and four collections of essays, and five books have been published of his interviews and correspondences. He also collaborated on projects and recordings with numerous performers and musicians and made many appearances in films. He was also briefly known by the pen name William Lee. Burroughs created and exhibited thousands of paintings and other visual artworks, including his celebrated 'Shotgun Art'. Burroughs was born into a wealthy family in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a grandson of inventor William Seward Burroughs I, who founded the Burroughs Corporation, and a nephew of public relations manager Ivy Lee.
