In "Dead Man's Deal", he is shown with a long beard. In the novelization, his beard is cut shorter and styled like Sherlock Holmes'. He is also wearing a darker-colored suit and tie with a large bowtie.
He is also shown to be a skilled martial artist, as seen in "The Mazarin Stone", and is able to dodge bullets and jabs from Moriarty with his sword.
Trivia
According to Robert Bloch, Holmes' voice was originally supposed to be low and gruff to make him sound like a "western Thuggee" or "Indian." The character was rewritten with the voice of John Gielgud.
