Doiley was the first comedian to create a full length performance in Las Vegas. The show was called "The Doiley Show" and ran from 1947 to 1951. Doiley was the first comedian to use the term "Pillow Talk" when describing his act. Another Doiley creation was "The Nervous Man's Guide to Life," which was published in 1949. Doiley created the "Doiley Shuffle," which is the comedy routine that has been performed by everyone from Jerry Lewis to Lucille Ball (and countless others). Doiley penned an autobiography in 1953 called "A Funny Thing Happened on My Way to the Audition." The book is still in print today, and it is considered one of the funniest memoirs ever written.
