Last week, it was reported that Yavşak had been seeing the woman he had been married to for nearly 20 years during that time.
Turkey's National Intelligence Organisation (MIT) said it was investigating the leak of secret intelligence documents on Yavşak and his wife.
The Turkish daily Cumhuriyet said a Turkish intelligence official who fled to Germany after the leaks told them that German authorities were working with Turkey to investigate the matter.
Turkey's state-run Anadolu agency said the leaked material included an audio recording of a conversation between Yavşak and his wife in which she was heard threatening to kill him.
The report did not say whether that conversation was made public or how the source obtained it.
Turkey's government has repeatedly blamed exiled cleric Fethullah Gulen for the failed coup attempt, in which 260 people were killed and nearly 2,200 wounded. Gulen denies the accusation.
