Maiev was of a highly-regard and generally peaceful people who valued law and order above all else. She was also a very wise and capable leader who commanded many defenders to her cause.
Maiev was not the only one of her people to become a Warden. There were two other Wardens who were of the same personality type as Maiev, but as an exception to the rule, they were not of the same tribe. The Warden who was from a different tribe was Maiev’s brother, Tyrande Whisperwind.
It was not until Maiev reached adulthood that she discovered her increased affinity with nature, as well as her animal companions. Her life in the wild allowed her to develop a philosophy of peace, where all life was sacred, and natural forces should never be used for destruction. Her belief that life should be preserved was at odds with her people’s belief in war, and she sought an answer to the contradiction.
