What you're describing is "type theory". The practical side of it is that it's a way of organizing your thinking to help you focus on the important issues and get the most out of the situation. Instead of reading everything and anything, or talking to everyone, or even listening to everyone, you learn to narrow your focus to the most important people and issues.

This is a great skill to have, and one that I wish I had learned earlier in life. It helps with decision-making, especially when you're trying to make the right decision in a short time. It helps you understand how things work better and why, too.

And it helps you feel like you're getting more out of the situation than others. A lot of the time, I feel like the only person who's in the room with me, even when it's packed full of people.

My best advice for anyone is to never let yourself be talked out of going for something you really want to do. It's hard, but it's really worth it in many ways. I'm sure you'll find out for yourself.
