I read more non-fiction books than fiction books. From a young age, I had a passion for reading. My passion for reading has not changed a bit.
I got a Bachelor’s degree in English from New York University. I also majored in Media Studies. I had a minor in Mental Health Counseling.
In 2001, I began my career in the mental health field by working at a CAMH clinic in Toronto called Community Assessment and Treatment Services. In 2004, I moved to Los Angeles and worked at the Malibu Recovery Center. In 2008, I opened my own practice called The Antidote Counseling Group in Los Angeles. In 2013, I relocated to Nashville and became a staff member at the My Life Counseling Center of Nashville.
I have a private practice in Los Angeles and a private practice in Nashville.

He wrote the best-selling memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. Eggers is also the founder of McSweeney's, a literary journal, a co-founder of the literacy project 826 Valencia and the human rights nonprofit Voice of Witness, and the founder of ScholarMatch, a program that matches donors with students needing funds for college tuition. His writing has appeared in several magazines.
