The NEO-PI-R consists of 160 items and measures the five traits and several other personality characteristics (called NEO factors).
Valkenburg et al’s scales were developed based on the convergent and discriminant validity of the BFI and NEO-PI-R. Convergent validity is defined as the degree to which two or more tests share the same construct. Discriminant validity is defined as the degree to which one test discriminates between groups who differ on a trait or set of traits.
