The story begins with a boy, named Yuu, running away from an unknown pursuer. It turns out, however, that Yuu was being chased by a group of men who have been trying to capture the boy for some time. After Yuu's capture, the group take him to a nearby building, where he is locked up in a room and left alone. The next day, Yuu is awoken by someone who identifies herself as the "god" of the world; she tells Yuu that he is in a place called "The World '94." She then explains that he is the reincarnation of the "savior" of the world and that he must save it from three disasters. The first of these disasters is a mysterious virus called "The Deathly Virus," which is spreading rapidly throughout the world. The second catastrophe is called "The Great Calamity," but she does not explain what this calamity entails.
