Sharon Hawkins personality type is ESTJ, or extroverted, sensing, thinking, judging. It is the “dominant” personality type in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality assessment, which is just one of a variety of similar tests that are used to assess personality for many different purposes. (The MBTI is discussed in more detail later in this chapter.)
Most of us fit into a certain personality type, and it’s a useful shorthand to describe our strengths and weaknesses. Most of us have some qualities that are common to most, if not all, of the types. We are, for example, all about making business deals. (We’re also all about making friends, but that’s not what this book is about.)
The MBTI uses a scale to measure the extent to which we are each of the sixteen types. The scales are based on how we perceive ourselves and others around us. Our MBTI assessment takes between one and two hours to complete, depending on how much knowledge you have of yourself and others, and how much time you want to spend.
