History
Lionel was born in Metropolis and grew up in Smallville. He attended the Kent State University, where he excelled in his studies. He was a good student, but also very cocky, and eventually got into a fight with a fellow student. The fight escalated into a full-fledged fight, and Lionel was expelled from his university. He took his anger out on his father, who was a well-known scientist and inventor. In retaliation, he built a prototype of a new super weapon that he claimed would be able to take out any city on Earth in a few hours. Lex Luthor saw this weapon and decided that he wanted it. He tricked Lionel into revealing the weapon's existence in order to turn him into an informant for him. Lionel was not only forced to work for Lex, but he was also framed for the murder of one of Lex's employees. Lex used Lionel's weapon to take over Metropolis and then he used it to take over the world. It was all a ruse, though, and Lionel was rescued by Clark Kent and the Legion of Superheroes.
