Leaks personality type is INTP, making the author likely an INTP (though, as I’ve said before, that doesn’t preclude them from also being an ESTP).
I’ve recently had reason to spend some time thinking about how personality types are conveyed in writing. I’ve found that oftentimes, people who consider themselves experts on personality types can display a great deal of inaccuracy in their descriptions of the five types. That’s not to say that all experts are inaccurate, but there are certainly experts who are.
I’m thinking of the cases of David Keirsey and David Meyers, both of whom consider themselves experts on MBTI. I’m not saying either is inaccurate in his assessments of Myers-Briggs, but neither seems to be well informed about MBTI itself. Considering that I’m probably the only person in the world who thinks Myers-Briggs is a good idea, I’m thinking it might be worth explaining to people why I think Myers-Briggs is a good idea.
So first, let me define the concept of personality type.
