1. Isaac Newton

In 1642, at the age of 21, Newton published his first book, Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy. It was a complete reworking of the work of René Descartes, which provided new and improved explanations for various phenomena in physics.
In 1666, Newton published his most famous work, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. In it, he introduced his Three Laws of Motion. These laws are still used today.
Not long after publishing Philosophical Transactions, in 1671, Newton was made Warden of the Royal Mint by Oliver Cromwell. The job description was to protect the currency from counterfeiting and repairing damaged coins.
In 1687, Queen Mary died and he was made Master of the Mint as a reward for his work on behalf of the crown.
