Taiga personality type is INTJ, so I'll have to clarify.
(I think I'm overstating the case here, but I don't honestly know how well this would apply to you.)
A lot of the time it's just an extension of the initial impression. If you're talking about someone you're having a conversation with, chances are they're going to be perceived as being one way even if they're not. It's just what's socially expected.
People are less likely to do this when they already know you. For instance, if you work together or are otherwise close friends, the initial impression will probably be more accurate. I'm not sure how much of this applies to you, but for example, I'm known as extremely cold and harsh compared to the way I really am (I'm not actually like that at all). Even though I've known people who work with me for years, they still perceive me as being rude and unfriendly.
Of course, there are some cases where people can see right through your facade and see straight through to what you're like in real life. This is especially true if the initial impression was wrong in the first place, but it still happens.
